Silver Lining:

Dark and dreary are the days with gasps of eerie fog between the downpours. This look is reflective of the grey days in the Vancity atmosphere we are currently enduring and will be for months to come. The silver lining to this lowly weather is that I'm still wearing my leather jacket as my everyday outerwear, innerwear and everywhere.  This outfit has hints of the 90's - minimalist, sleek, a little goth with a touch of space odyssey.  I started with the silver pants and worked everything around them, sheen and aqueous looking almost like liquidated metal or droplets of rain.  Nails and makeup can be their own accessory; for me this outfit felt bare when it came to the accessories so I decided to compliment it with a dark plum lip colour and a mirror-like metallic silver polish, rounding out the 90's influence.  Even though most get down about the weather I feel that it can be inspiring if you let it be.

Find the beauty in the darkness so that you can learn to dance in the rain.

The "rules" of cool according to Erin Wasson, a.k.a. there are no rules.

There are so many reasons why I love this woman.  This video is one of them...

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.

Fire it up:

They say you are a product of your surroundings, so why not surround yourself with inspiration every day.  I may be in the process of learning the guitar but that doesn't mean I can't dress like a rockstar, pretty sure that's been M.O. for as long as Jack Daniels has been a househould name.  This outfit was inspired in part by my living room.  The firey painting was done by my friend Ross Warwick, a very talented man.  Not only does your outer asthetic reflect your inner self but your inner self can be reinforced by your outer.  Within you without you, without you within. Whaaat? OK I've listened to one too many vinyls in reverse.

(shirt and pants: Zara, vest: Forever 21, necklace: St. Lawrence Market in Toronto, bolo tie: Value Village,  suede boots: Sears Outlet? Yeah that's right SEARS OUTLET store. Get over yourself with your labels and open your mind to the possibility that you can find amazingness in places you would never think of setting foot into.  I found these killing time with my Dad before coffee with family.  They are 100% suede leather and waterproof.  Might I add very 60's inspired. Amazing.)

Lookbook Love: Dark Side of the Moon

Let's get lost in the desert, dance under the stars and howl at the moon.  The styling of Bona Drag's latest lookbook seamlessly reflects this spirit and makes me long for Summer's kiss.  Loving the double exposure and the enigmatic illusions - that snake tree is sheer brilliance.  Oh by the way, the model is also the stylist.  What a babe.

Pants on Fire:

Hot pants has a new definition.  Printed, slashed, sheened, coloured, dipped and embellished, funky stems are definitely a trend.  Above are some of my favourites that have been floating around the blogosphere as of late. I'm generally not a fan of many solid colour pants but let's just say I'm on a major hunt for wine red velvet leggings.  Give your gams a kick with some crazy pants this weekend - stand out with what you stand on.
