Editorial Love: The Trailer Park Life

Who says the trailer park can't be glamourous? Drooling over this Editorial from Marie Claire Italia October 2012.  Bambi Northwood-Blyth is on my list of top models and damn does she take the trash out of trailer park.  Purple hued hair, jewel encrusted corsets, mermaid-esque metallics, studded combat boots mixed with lavish cocktail dresses, pile on the gems and you've got the perfect recipe for grunge glam.  I already forsee my winter holiday party wishlist.

Fall is the time for layers and what better place to be during my favourite season than "the layering city" itself, Vancouver.  An upside to enduring the rain and unconventional weather forecast is that you can get creative with your layers.  Doubling up on plaid and a denim chambray shirt is an easy way to create a light jacket for the day and just throw on a scarf or leather jacket for when it gets cooler.  The fact that I can even wear an outfit like this still in November while the rest of the country is getting frost bitten, surely is nothing to be S.A.D. about.

Lookbook Love: Planet Blue - Lost Lifetime

I am so enthralled by Planet Blue's latest lookbook Lost Lifetime.   For me, it's always all about the details.  Between the crushed velvet, intricate metal embellishements, fringe, prints, sheers and sequins this entire collection is screaming my name.  Planet Blue never ceases to take my breath away with their ability to create bold yet carefree enchanting looks.  This edgy allure with a touch of gypsy bohemian is a direct reflection of my personal style.

Style Inspiration: The Craft

This Halloween I decided to channel my inner craft.  The Craft, was a stand out teen movie for fashion in the 90's.  Taking the schoolgirl to a level of sexy grunge, which was reflective of the style during that time.  Grunge today has made its comeback with spikes, leather, chains and edgy details.  Although today's edgy takes it to the next level, we can take a look back at the rebellious babes of The Craft for inspiration.


Sidenote: I'm not one to swoon over designer labels.  However, that Dolce and Gabbana rosery and DSquared bracelet were left behind from an ex boyfriend so I'm not going to complain -  maybe just conduct a little Vodoo?

Unleash your creativity - I bought this spikey dog collar from a pet store years ago (initially for a Halloween costume) and it seems to have recently become one of my most versatile accessory pieces.  I've donned it as a bracelet, a choker, a hair accessory and above as an added kick for my boots.  Why not?

This Fall camo print has definitely made a comeback, specifically in the form of army jackets.  There's something so bold yet effortless about a camo jacket.  Being such a strong pattern, the key is to wear neutral colours to let the camo stand out,  (ironically contrary to it's original purpose).  Complimenting with edgy accessories is an easy way to amp up the jacket.  The best place to find a camo jacket would be at any army surplus store but be prepared to HUNT!  Being that these jackets were worn by soldiers who were male, finding the right size requires a little searching.  However, once you do, it's well worth it and knowing that there's a history behind the jacket makes it feel that much more special.
